Historical walk into the most emblematic Jewish quarter of Paris

The historic Jewish quarter is found in the charming preserved district of the Marais especially around the rue des Rosiers.
The walk brings to life the fascinating history of the Jewish population that has lived in France for more than 2000 years. In between persecutions and forced exiles, there have been periods that have consecrated the community as one of the most important and active in culture, politics, and business, especially in the 19th century.

The tour presents places that often go unrecognized, from large synagogues to small hidden oratories, private mansions and typical streets. It will also show places of remembrance, followed by a reflection on the current status of the French Jewish community.
The tour will also go around many local restaurant, either falafel, Mediterranean food. In  all Eastern Europe pastry shop, some typical delicacies are available, attracting crowds from many horizons!

One of the highlights of the tour is a stop at a Synagogue, tucked away at the second floor of a building. Supposedly from the 18th century, it is the oldest one still in use in Paris.

The walk will end outside the splendid Jewish Art and History Museum (MAHJ)

A donation is asked at the Synagogue.
