The Great Synagogue of Paris, inaugurated in 1874, has been listed as a historical monument since 1987. The seat of the Chief Rabbi of France and the Chief Rabbi of Paris, it is located in the 9th arrondissement.

The beautiful façade is 36 meters high and in Romanesque style. The main entrance with 3 porches on the ground floor is only open on service days. The side entrance welcomes visitors. After different courtyards, one can discover the impressive volume of the nave. Its architecture combines Romanesque, Byzantine and Second Empire styles. It houses a 28-meter nave, the holy ark, large organs, a grand staircase, stained glass windows, gilded bronze candelabras, and the foyer.

Most of the ornaments of worship, including the large solid silver candlestick and the eternal lamp, were donated by Gustave de Rothschild and his wife. The heart of the spiritual life of the Parisian Jewish community, the Great Synagogue of the Victoire (Victory) is the scene of official ceremonies and activities throughout the year.
With 1,800 seats, it is the second largest synagogue in Europe.

The Grande Synagogue also houses memorial artefacts, a few windows with photos and souvenirs, a library, offices, many meeting rooms and a smaller synagogue for the Portuguese Sefardi rite.

The entrance ticket is included in the overall price.
