Practical information<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The tour will go over the Occupation of Paris and starts outside Richelieu-Drouot metro station (lines 8 and 9) close to the third Jewish district<\/strong> of Paris. Eventually, we\u2019ll walk past the buildings and places most directly connected to the German Occupation of Paris. Arriving at Concorde square, where a series of amazing pictures<\/strong> will complete the session. Finally, whilst sitting on a comfortable bench overlooking the square, we will recount other stories about this troubled period. \nAfter an outline of the historical and political circumstances that led to the outbreak of the Second World war, you will be given the facts explaining the French defeat, the conditions of the armistice<\/strong> and the dividing of the country.
\nAlong the walk within the 9th district of Paris, different aspects of the Occupation of Paris and France will be given.
\nThe tour will tell other stories of unknown people along the way, either political opponents, deported Jews<\/strong> or simple citizens facing hard times day by day.
\nThe second aspect of the tour will shed light on the economic Collaboration<\/strong> in many lines of business, luxury shops, banking and\u00a0stock market.
\nAround the Opera, the tour will give a cultural insight into daily life during the four years of Occupation. Between Nazi pomp<\/strong> with music and daily parades, cin\u00e9mas, exhibitions\u00a0and shows attracting many Parisians .
\nAround the Palace hotels rue de Rivoli, you will the be shown the political and physical signs of the German presence in Paris. This will be the occasion to talk about the liberation of Paris<\/strong> in August 1944 and the events taking place in this area. Once again, incredible anecdotes<\/strong> will alternate with historical facts.<\/p>\n
\nBetween grand and small history, the tour takes you to see the main\u00a0buildings<\/strong> where the German invaders<\/strong> settled and ruled for four long years.
