minutes away from Paris with a local train, the <strong>discreet<\/strong> &#8220;Sous Pr\u00e9fecture&#8221; is not on top of the tourist&#8217;s list.<\/p>\n<p>We will try and change that!<br \/>\nFirst with a trip to <strong>Saint Deny&#8217;s Basilica<\/strong>. Even if the church is fairly new, from the 19th century, it replaces various older buildings. In 800 AD, The <strong>Tunic<\/strong> Jesus wore during his crucifixion was part of a deal for the alliance between the Byzantine Empire and Charlemagne.<br \/>\nHe gave it to his daughter, a nun in Argenteuil. Despite many historical upheavals, <strong>the Holy Tunic<\/strong> is still in the city today to be admired at special times only.<\/p>\n<p>On the way from the station to the church, we&#8217;ll have a look at <strong>different sites of interest<\/strong> such as the conservatory and ruins of a former famous abbey.<\/p>\n<p>Lunch, of course the most important aspect of the tour, will take place in a local and quite affordable <strong>brasserie<\/strong> of the city center. Afterwards, the tour will show other interesting highlights, such as an ancient watch tower or a Protestant Temple built with <strong>neogothic architecture<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll the go to the <strong>museum of impressionism<\/strong>, a former home of <strong>Claude Monet<\/strong>. The great painter lived 8 years in Argenteuil with his family in the 1870&#8217;s.<br \/>\nIn a comfortable mansion, the visitor is able to feel the painter&#8217;s intimacy with period furniture and objects. But also to understand Monet&#8217;s connections to colors and modernity.<\/p>\n<p>Argenteuil train station is just a few minutes away.
