<strong>capital of Normandy<\/strong>, with the wonderful cathedral, the Medieval Palais de Justice and the very special Maison Sublime.<\/p>\n<p>Close to Paris, Rouen offers a delightful moment outside. Even if the city was severely hit by bombings during WWII, it still offers <strong>amazing sights<\/strong> and colorful walks in very <strong>charming streets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/interkultur.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Rouen_maisonsublime.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-16604 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/interkultur.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Rouen_maisonsublime-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/interkultur.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Rouen_maisonsublime-66x66.jpg 66w, https:\/\/interkultur.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Rouen_maisonsublime-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/interkultur.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Rouen_maisonsublime-200x200.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the highlights is the <strong>Cathedral<\/strong>, one of the biggest in France. Of course, it is known all over the world thanks to the numerous paintings by <strong>Claude Monet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Another amazing experience is the tour of the &#8220;<strong>Maison Sublime<\/strong>&#8220;, the remains of the oldest Jewish building, hidden underneath the sumptuous Medieval Parliament building.<\/p>\n<p>After lunch, we&#8217;ll discover the <strong>Historial Jeanne d&#8217;Arc<\/strong>. Set in the <strong>magnificent Archbishop&#8217;s palace<\/strong>, several rooms recount the life of Joan of Arc, until her execution in Rouen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/interkultur.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Rouen-Aitre-Saint-Maclou.webp\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-16623 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/interkultur.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Rouen-Aitre-Saint-Maclou-150x150.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/interkultur.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Rouen-Aitre-Saint-Maclou-66x66.webp 66w, https:\/\/interkultur.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Rouen-Aitre-Saint-Maclou-150x150.webp 150w, https:\/\/interkultur.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Rouen-Aitre-Saint-Maclou-200x200.webp 200w, https:\/\/interkultur.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Rouen-Aitre-Saint-Maclou-500x500.webp 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the way back to the train station, admire more <strong>charming squares and streets<\/strong> lined with colored <strong>half timbered houses<\/strong>. Behind a local church, we&#8217;ll have an eye on an eerie sight rarely seen elsewhere.<br \/>\nThe &#8220;Aitre Saint Maclou&#8221; is former <strong>medieval ossuary<\/strong>, still lined with walls, like a cloister. Set up after the great plague in 1348, the cemetery has kept its original <strong>macabre decor<\/strong> and <strong>carved columns<\/strong>. It now houses a restaurant and an art center.<\/p>\n<p>Last stop on the way: <strong>the dungeon<\/strong>. The only part remaining of the old <strong>chateau de Rouen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The train leaves Paris Saint-Lazare station at 08:40 am (12\u20ac\/person)<br \/>\nReturn from Rouen train station starts at 06:01 pm (12\u20ac\/person)<\/p>\n<p>80\u20ac\/person.
