Relive Monet’s life, learn about the quite unusual personal life of the founding father of Impressionism, his strong personality, his struggles and his passions and influences.

This half-day trip starts Porte Maillot with an hour drive up to Giverny. With a separate entrance, we’ll access the estate straight in the gardens. The tour starts with a visit of the Clos Normand flower garden. Each season brings its variety of blooming flowers and trees in a festival of colors.

On the Clos Normand’s other side there’s the pond, the Japanese bridge, the water lilies, the bamboos. All around the pond lies an incredible collection of beautiful flowers, depending on the season.
We will after that visit the pink house, decorated in the same color schemes that Monet admired. One can recapture its atmosphere and charms of times past.

Inside Monet’s home, you will be able to dive in the past and see among others the reading room (blue salon), the impressive collection of the artist’s original Japanese prints, the larder (cellier) the living room/workshop. On the first floor, colored bedchambers of Monet, his wife and daughter in law show more intimate objects and paintings. The last rooms are the fantastic yellow dining room and the blue ceramic kitchen. The estate’s exit goes by the painter’s last workshop where he painted the big water lilies series at the end of his life. This is now the souvenirs shop.

Walking the main street after the visit is another occasion to discover more original houses and restaurants. At the end is the church and the cemetery where most of Monet’s family rest in peace.

On the way back to Paris, if time allows, the dive will take you back via a scenic road called “route des crêtes” so that you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and landscape of the Vexin area.
